A Heart Disease Message for Hispanics

More than 100 people learned about heart disease and Latinas during Hispanic Heritage Month on Saturday Oct. 6 at Univision’s Unision Feria de Salud hosted on the campus of Miami Dade College. WomenHeart Champions Herminia Battle and Mildred Rodriguez distributed 150 Red Bags of Courage in Spanish and English to attendees. The bags contained resources, fact about heart disease, and information about WomenHeart support services and programs.

This year WomenHeart launched an awareness campaign about heart disease and Latinas. Heart disease kills more than 20,000 Latinas annually.
