FY2014 Budget: Your input needed!
Share |

Congress is still in town, trying to finish a number of items prior to the August recess. If you have an opportunity to see your Senator or Representative while they are in the state or district, please urge them to support the FY2014 Labor, Health Appropriations Act, as passed in full committee.

WomenHeart, together with 85 national health organizations that are members of The Coalition for Health Funding strongly supports this bill, which makes investments in the agencies and programs of the Department of Health and Human Services such as the National Institutes of Health, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, that provide access to preventive and primary care, train the next generation of providers, reduce the reach of disease and disability, and discover new treatments for diseases, which help women living with heart disease.

The Senate version of this bill is more generous that the House and agreement will have to be reached in order for the bill to become law.

Funding threats to public health and research programs will continue as long as sequestration remains in effect. WomenHeart and The Coalition for Health Funding believe that Congress must replace sequestration with a balanced approach to deficit reduction, while protecting public health programs.
