SUMMARY:WomenHeart Advocacy Day–You Can Participate
DESCRIPTION:WomenHeart’s Advocacy Day brings our WomenHeart Champions together to engage directly with policymakers on Capitol Hill and advocate for policies that improve the prevention\, diagnosis\, and treatment of women’s heart disease. \nThis invite-only day of advocacy focuses on the lived experiences of women\, elevates patient voices\, and advances critical legislative priorities that expand access to care\, strengthen research\, and protect patient choice. \nWhile in-person Advocacy Day participation is limited\, you can still play an important role in driving change. Through WomenHeart’s Action Center\, supporters across the country can join us in taking meaningful action by learning about key policies\, contacting elected officials\, and standing with the 60 million women in the United States living with heart disease. \nAdvocacy does not stop at the doors of Capitol Hill. Collective action\, informed voices\, and sustained engagement move policy forward. We invite you to join us virtually by taking action today through the WomenHeart Action Center and help advance a future where women’s heart health is prioritized\, funded\, and protected. \nJoin us in taking ACTION at: https://womenheart.quorum.us/

SUMMARY:Cardiomyopathy in Women: Recognizing Symptoms and Reaching a Diagnosis
DESCRIPTION:Join WomenHeart for a foundational HeartTalks session on cardiomyopathy\, a diverse group of conditions that affect the heart muscle. While cardiomyopathy can occur in anyone\, many women experience delays in diagnosis due to systemic issues in cardiovascular care—such as symptoms being attributed to non-cardiac causes\, lower clinical suspicion\, or their concerns not being fully considered. In this session\, Dr. Mariko Harper\, a leading cardiologist specializing in cardiomyopathy\, will explain what cardiomyopathy is\, how it develops\, and the major types\, including peripartum cardiomyopathy\, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy\, and others. She will offer a clear\, accessible overview that helps attendees understand what to look for and why early evaluation matters. \nWe will also hear from WomenHeart Champions who will share their lived experience navigating a cardiomyopathy diagnosis\, offering insight into the challenges many women encounter when seeking answers and the strategies that helped them advocate for themselves. Whether you’ve been diagnosed\, are at risk\, support someone living with cardiomyopathy\, or simply want a clearer understanding of this condition\, we encourage you to join us. This session is designed for advocates\, patients\, caregivers\, clinicians\, and anyone seeking reliable\, patient-centered information about cardiomyopathy and women’s heart health.

SUMMARY:Women & Blood Pressure: Why It Matters—Even When You Feel Fine
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Women & Blood Pressure: Why It Matters—Even When You Feel Fine. High blood pressure is often silent\, but not harmless. \nThis HeartTalk explains what hypertension is\, why it matters even when you feel fine\, what “normal” vs. “high” means\, and how risk can shift across a woman’s life (pregnancy and postpartum\, birth control\, menopause)\, including the role of family history and genetics. Facilitated by WomenHeart CEO Celina Gorre\, the session features Dr. Ijeoma Isiadinso\, a leading cardiologist passionate about prevention\, alongside a WomenHeart Champion sharing the patient perspective to help us connect the dots. \nYou’ll leave with clear next steps: how to check and understand your numbers\, small everyday changes that make a big difference\, when medications are recommended\, and ways to partner with your care team. Whether you’re living with high blood pressure\, have a family history\, or simply want to protect your heart health\, this conversation will help you feel informed\, encouraged\, and ready to act.

SUMMARY:When Heart Symptoms Don’t Add Up: Understanding ATTR-CM
DESCRIPTION:This HeartTalks conversation will explore transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM)\, a serious yet often overlooked condition that can cause the heart to stiffen\, leading to symptoms commonly mistaken for other forms of heart disease\, particularly heart failure. ATTR-CM can present with fatigue\, shortness of breath\, swelling\, and other signs that resemble more familiar heart conditions\, which makes early and accurate diagnosis a challenge\, especially for women\, who may already face delays or misdiagnosis when seeking care for heart symptoms. \nWe’ll be joined by Dr. Sarah Cuddy\, a leading expert in cardiac amyloidosis\, cardiologist with the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Amyloidosis Program\, and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Cuddy will help us understand what ATTR-CM is\, how it affects the heart\, and what makes it different from typical heart failure. She’ll share her insights on how this condition is diagnosed\, who may be at risk\, and what treatment options are available today. We’ll also explore why ATTR-CM is often missed in women and how we can change that through education\, advocacy\, and increased awareness. \nThe conversation will also feature Giselle Benmoin\, who will share her personal journey and bring a real-world perspective to this educational session.\nWhether you’re living with heart disease\, supporting a loved one\, or engaging as a WomenHeart Champion\, this session will equip you with the knowledge to recognize red flags\, ask informed questions\, and gain a deeper understanding of this condition.
