town, trying to finish a number of items prior to the August recess. If you have an opportunity to see your Senator
or Representative while they are in the state or district, please urge them to
support the FY2014 Labor, Health Appropriations Act, as passed in full committee.
with 85 national health organizations that are members of The
Coalition for Health Funding strongly supports this bill, which makes investments in the agencies and programs of
the Department of Health and Human Services such as the National Institutes of
Health, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention, that provide access to preventive and primary
care, train the next generation of providers, reduce the reach of disease and
disability, and discover new treatments for diseases, which help women living
with heart disease.
The Senate version of this bill is more generous that the House and
agreement will have to be reached in order for the bill to become law.
Funding threats to public health and research programs will continue
as long as sequestration remains in effect.
WomenHeart and The Coalition for Health Funding believe that Congress
must replace sequestration with a balanced approach to deficit reduction, while
protecting public health programs.
