"Welcome! My name is Janis E. Eason-Moore. I am a WomenHeart Champion and I am the Co-District Community Leader (DCL) for the Midwest district covering Kansas, Missouri, and Colorado. I work closely with fellow co- DCL Cathy Porter to engage with the WomenHeart Champions in the Midwest District. We are constantly in communications with our heart sisters and often reach out to our district by e-mail, Facebook, phone calls or postal mail and sometimes in person.
As a WomenHeart Champion and co-DCL reaching out to the community is important! Our main objective is to educate the community by attending health fairs and other community activities where we have an opportunity to speak to women one-on-one and share our personal heart health stories. Being a WomenHeart Champion is such an honor—to have the support and all the tools needed to work with women and help them work through any issues is a truly a great privilege! Every champion has a story to tell and sharing our personal heart stories connects us to other women experiencing heart issues. One of the things I like to stress when meeting women who are also facing heart issues, is support! As a WomenHeart Champion and heart disease survivor our main goal is to make sure they understand what we can do to help and also, what WomenHeart can do for them."
