WomenHeart Special Training for Applicants from St. Peter’s Hospital  and UF Health Shands Hospital

As a select training for women living with heart disease who would like to help other women in their community by providing much needed support, we invite you to apply to come to a one-day training and three day conference held in Washington, DC May 4 - 8, 2018. In addition, upon completing the training, you will have the exciting opportunity to attend the WomenHeart Science & Leadership Symposium at Mayo Clinic this October!

About the one-day training and conference in Washington, DC May 4 - 8, 2018:

You will have the opportunity to learn from WomenHeart staff, leaders, experienced WomenHeart Champions and professional trainers on how to support other women living with heart disease. You will learn how to set up a support group in your hospital, how to tell your heart disease story and about the many resources we offer.

About the WomenHeart Science & Leadership Symposium in Rochester, MN, October 5 - 8, 2018:

The WomenHeart Science & Leadership Symposium is the nation’s only volunteer program that trains women with heart disease to be community educators and Support Network Coordinators solely for women heart patients. WomenHeart Champions are the "boots on the ground” in the fight against heart disease, the leading cause of death in women. They are real women living with heart disease, who share their stories and important messages about heart health—all in the mission to save lives.

Attendees learn critical heart disease information from the nation’s leading cardiology experts and are trained to tell their personal heart stories, in order to educate and empower women to take charge of their heart health.

·         Support Network Coordinators: Lead monthly peer-to-peer support groups, providing critical psycho-social and emotional support for women heart disease patients. Please read this for more information.

Note: Due to the generous funding from AstraZeneca, training, transportation, meals, and hotel (double occupancy) are provided at no cost.
