WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease is the only national organization solely devoted to meeting the needs of the 42 million American women living with or at risk of heart disease. We provide direct support to women, advocate on their behalf, and educate the public and health community. This 16 year-old organization is poised for rapid expansion.
A top priority for the organization is developing new relationships and partnerships, and raising revenue so that we can educate, support and advocate for the leading cause of death of women. Nonprofit development plays a vital role in the success of an organization and WomenHeart is seeking a passionate intern interested in learning about nonprofit fundraising and making a difference for the 42 million living with or at risk of heart disease.
Responsible for assisting CEO and Development Manager in fulfilling fundraising activities of the organization. Development Interns will provide administrative and field support for the CEO and Development Manager and work in collaboration with them to ensure strategic and fundraising goals are met through positive and productive interaction and collaboration with all partners and staff.
Assistance with creating meeting materials for corporate partnerships and fundraising activities.
Assistance with ongoing development activities including corporate, foundation, and individual giving.
Research and identify new corporate prospects for financial and in-kind support.
Conduct outreach to corporate prospects and manage tracking of communication for prospective partners.
Excellent opportunity to expand knowledge of all fundraising aspects.
Work directly with CEO and Development Manager of national healthcare organization.
Qualifications and Minimum Requirements:
- Effective communication skills (verbal, written, listening).
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent writing and oral skills are required; comfortable with telephone communication (i.e. cold calling).
- Desire to learn how to work in a fast-paced environment while juggling multiple tasks at once.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team .
- Must work a minimum of 12 hours/week.
