57 Women Graduate from Science and Leadership Symposium at Mayo Clinic
WomenHeart's fifth class has graduated from our Symposium, held on October 7 -11 at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. The 57 women heart patients learned about heart disease diagnosis and treatments, and toured Mayo Clinic's cardiac labs. They also spent a day and a half learning public speaking and media interviewing skills. Once home, the women are required to conduct a minimum of 24 hours of community education.

"This is a very enthusiastic, motivated and energetic class," said Sara Sandel, the Symposium program director. "We know they will have a dramatic impact in their communities and help many women take charge of their heart health."

Symposium speakers included Dr. Sharonne Hayes of Mayo Clinic; Dr. Jennifer Mieres of NYU Medical School; Ann Taubenheim, PhD, of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute; and Wayne Sotile, PhD, author of Thriving with Heart Disease.
