Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is the leading cause of death in the United States, killing up to 350,000 people annually. In fact, SCA claims one life every two minutes, taking more lives each year than breast cancer, lung cancer, or AIDS, and disproportionately affecting racial minorities and women. The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Thought Leadership Alliance (SCATLA), led by Duke University, was formed to improve the quality of care around SCA and to share and develop educational tools for patients and healthcare providers. Learn more about SCATLA here.
